Dear Birth Parent(s),
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Though we cannot begin to imagine how you must be feeling as you flip through our profile, please know that you are courageous for making the decision you are about to make. Life takes us on unpredictable paths. Our unconventional path to expanding our family has taken us on quite the journey, which we are hoping to share with you today. As you read about us, please know that you have our whole-hearted support, and we are hopeful that our life paths may cross someday.
About Us
We are an adoptive family of three – Superna, Rafid and our 3-year old son Kaiyen. We share our home with our miniature schnauzer, Ziggy!
We met in university 15 years ago, starting off as good friends. Over the years, that friendship evolved into a relationship. We were married in 2019 and the rest is history. We were both raised by supportive parents who gave us everything we needed, wanted and more. We knew we were meant for a bigger challenge in life, and decided to expand our family through adoption. We adopted Kaiyen 3 years ago and are hoping to give him a sibling to share his adoptive experience.
Meet Rafid – by Superna
- Rafid is a man of many hobbies and talents.
- He plays guitar, piano, bass, drums and even sings!
- He was the lead guitarist in a band with a group of our friends. They released an original album in 2015 and performed for 300 people at our wedding reception!
- Rafid’s charisma is enchanting. He brightens every room he steps into and is a master at maintaining relationships
- Rafid is also a spectacular painter. Though he started with acrylics, he now mainly does digital art.
- Rafid is the master at witty jokes,. Not a day has gone by where he hasn’t made me laugh!
- He may not admit it, but Rafid is the most intelligent person I know. He is one of the youngest and most accomplished data scientists in the country.
Meet Superna – by Rafid
- Superna is the most driven, dedicated, and intelligent person I’ve ever met.
- When we were in school, she would manage tens of extracurricular activities, work and school-work with a smile.
- Now, she does even more on top of her work – managing our household, keeping Kaiyen engaged, spending quality time with me and planning all our trips.
- A highly accomplished clinical pharmacist, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, completed a hospital residency, and has since received numerous professional awards.
- Brave and adventurous, her fearlessness pushes us to grow and embrace new experiences.
- She’s incredibly dependable, not just for me and Kaiyen, but for our friends and family.
- She is the goofiest out of all of us. Kaiyen and I are never short of entertained and we love our goofball!
Meet Kaiyen
- We adopted Kaiyen from Bangladesh. When we met him at 2 weeks old, he was a curious, wide-eyed baby.
- Kaiyen is now a thriving 3-year old preschooler. He is an active, busy toddler and enjoys his swimming, basketball and gymnastics lessons.
- During downtime at home, he loves to play music with his baba, read books with his mama and play outside with his furry-brother Ziggy.
- Kaiyen knows that he was born in Bangladesh from “another mama’s belly.” He cannot wait to share his experience with a sibling who also came from “another mama’s belly!”
Meet Ziggy
Life at home
We are fortunate to live in a family-friendly suburb within a large city. We have plenty of neighbours with children who we regularly have playdates with. With tons of kids activities within walking distance, there’s never a dull moment! We live in a multicultural area with a variety of cuisines. Rafid’s favourite would have to be Korean Fried Chicken, while Superna prefers authentic Chinese hand-pulled noodles!
We are grateful that you took the time to read our profile. We deeply appreciate your consideration and want you to know that we will be supportive of you throughout your journey, no matter what path you choose.
