Amber & Riley

Introduction

Hi we are Amber and Riley. We met growing up because we went to the same schools. We loved each other’s company and got really comfortable being ourselves. We went through the challenges of long distance and changes in our life but it just made us stronger. It feels like there are always new things to learn and love about each other. We have been together for 10 years and got married in July of 2021. We have always known that adoption was going to be a part of our future and we’d love nothing more than to get the opportunity to be parents. Hopefully this gives you a good glimpse into our lives and helps you on your journey of finding the right fit.

About Us

About Amber: Hi! I grew up on a farm outside of a rural town. I have an older sister and a younger brother. My dad worked on the farm and my mom worked from home as a bookkeeper. I loved growing up around animals and lots of land. I enjoyed playing sports, music and doing 4-H groups. I never was an all star at anything but I enjoyed all the opportunities I was given to learn new things and make new friends. I loved baby sitting and worked at different summer camps for kids. I always saw myself being a mom. I’m usually pretty shy until I get to know people. Then I get more chatty. I am easy going and love when everyone is getting along and having fun. Once I graduated highschool I went to college to become a Physiotherapist Assistant. I have been working in therapy ever since. I love being a part of people’s healing journeys. I spend my time now with friends and family and especially love babysitting my nephew. I love to read , spend time outside and take care of plants and gardens.

About Riley: Hi, I’m Riley. I grew up in a small town. I have a younger sister. My dad is a by-law officer and my mom is a hairdresser. While growing up, our parents took us on many camping trips. We also traveled together a lot for my hockey. I love to play all sports, mostly hockey which I still play. I grew up spending most of my time outside with friends. I have always enjoyed being with children. I used to babysit my cousins after school and we would have lots of fun playing together. When Amber’s sister had her son we would spend lots of time with him and he comes over for sleepovers quite often. It has been interesting to see him learn and grow. After high school I started an electrical apprenticeship and became an electrician. I have been with the same company for 8 years. I like spending time with family and friends , golfing, biking and playing with our dog Nash. I have always wanted children and to have the opportunity to be a dad and raise a child would be a blessing.

Our Home & Community

We bought a new build home in a rural town outside of the city. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom open concept house. We have a beautiful sunset view into a farmers field from the back. Our neighborhood has access to a nature trail. We also live near a forest with biking, snowshoeing and walking trails. There are both English and French schools in our town. We are so lucky to have such amazing and supportive friends and family. Most of our weekends are spent visiting and making memories with them. We got married during the pandemic so our wedding was very small but it was so nice to have our closest friends and family there to support us. We both love traveling and hope to do more. We love camping and exploring. There are lots of places on our bucket list. We also love taking our dog to anywhere he can swim because he loves the water. It would be truly special to be able to share our love of traveling and adventures with your child

Nash

Nash is our 2 year old golden retriever.  We got him as a puppy and immediately fell in love with him.  He loves everybody he meets, is easy going and likes to find all different cozy spots in the house to nap.

Our Thoughts about Parenting & Adoption

Reason for Adoption : I have known I wanted to adopt since I was 13 years old. For medical reasons I knew I wouldn’t be having my own children and adoption was always in the back of my mind. Riley and I have been together for 10 years and he has always been on board with the idea of adoption. We want to always be open with your child about their adoption. We hope to work out a relationship that will work best for everyone involved.

Values: When it comes to values and discipline we both were raised by parents who taught us respect. We never feared our
parents but we didn’t want to disrespect them. We want to parent in a similar way to teach kindness , respect and
manners. We want your child to always feel like they can come to us about anything. We want to be open,
understanding and patient with them. We also want to be a united front and work together as a team to parent.
